Troop 57 will be collecting food for the needy on Saturday, February 20. Meet at the Oakridge Country Club parking lot, 2800 Diamond Oaks Drive, Garland, at 9:30 am. The need is great. Scouting for Food is the largest single food drive in the country. Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet will prevent collections.
If Scouts are unable to attend the 9:30 am food collection at Oakridge, there is another option for service. Crew 57 and Troop 57 are manning the New Beginning Center collection point from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Saturday. The New Beginning Center is located at 218 N. 10th St. in downtown Garland.
New Beginning has requested we bring boxes for storing canned goods. If you have access to boxes, please bring them to the New Beginning Center on Saturday.
Most of the troop should concentrate on food collection at Oakridge Saturday morning, however if you are not able to come at 9:30 am, the New Beginning Center option will be more convenient than trying to locate troop members already scattered throughout the Oakridge neighborhood.
We will need as many adult volunteers as possible to drive the Scouts and carry collected food in their vehicle back to the Oakridge Country Club parking lot. We will have maps and bags available at 9:30 am.
We will be camping at Wolf Pen near Sulphur Bluff, Texas, just north of Sulphur Springs. Cost for shooters will be $30. For those who will primarily shoot shotgun, the cost is $35. As usual, meet at FUMC at 6:30 pm Friday, February 26. Return Sunday, February 28 to FUMC at 1:00 pm.
Scouts must have attended Mr. Garrett's training in order to attend. All firearms will be under the control of Mr. Garrett.
Patrol menu planning will take place at the troop meeting Tuesday, February 23. Food fee is usually $10 but is up to each patrol. Grubmaster's need to know if you are coming no later than Wednesday.
Court of Honor will be Tuesday, March 2 in FUMC Schreiber Hall. The potluck dinner will begin at 6:30 pm. Bring your family!
