When are uniforms required?
Troop 57 members, both scouts and adults, wear a complete class A uniform at all troop meetings, when travelling, at all flag ceremonies, at all courts of honor, and at the morning and evening meal when attending long-term camps.  As a general rule, complete uniforms are required whenever Troop 57 is in the public eye as a troop.  The SPL, Scoutmaster, or person in charge may designate events that required uniforms.

What are the parts of a Class A uniform?
The Class A uniform consists of:
Official Scout shirt (khaki) with appropriate insignia.
Official Scout shorts or long pants (green).
Official Scout belt, or belt from a scout camp or high adventure base.
Troop 57 neckerchief
Official Scout socks (required with shorts, optional with long pants)
At troop meetings and outings, members of Venture Crew 57 may opt to wear the dark green Venture shirt, however all remaining items must be the same as described above.

What about bolo ties?
At troop meetings, scouts and adults can opt to wear a scouting themed bolo tie such as those available at Philmont and other scout camps.  However, whenever Troop 57 is out in public, such as when travelling or at summer camp, the Troop 57 neckerchief is required.

What about hats?
At troop meetings, scouts and adults may wear hats and caps as desired.  When out in public such as when travelling or at summer camp, hats and caps if worn must be scouting related.  At all times the SPL or Scoutmaster in charge has the option of not permitting any hat or cap that is in their opinion inappropriate.

What happens if I don't wear a complete uniform?
Scouts must be in full and complete uniform in order to receive any rank advancement, merit badge, or to run for a troop office.  Not being in uniform may, at the discretion of the person in charge, result in a scout not being allowed to participate in an activity where uniforms are normally required.

What if I don't have time, forgot, or just don't have a uniform?
Remember that the scout motto is "Be Prepared".  We understand that things happen, but if you know you have an after-school activity that might prevent you from going home to change, you might want to consider making arrangements to have someone bring it to you or to take it with you.  Troop 57 also maintains an inventory of "experienced" uniform pieces that are available to members at no charge.  All we ask is that when you have an item that you outgrow or no longer need, donate it to the inventory so that someone else may benefit.

What if I really cannot get a uniform?
If this is the case, please contact the Scoutmaster.  He has resources that can help you obtain one.  We really don't want anyone to feel left out of Troop 57 for this reason and will do everything we can to help.
